Dear Friends,
I'm planning to have lunch at the "IN N OUT" burger in Las Vegas on Tuesday July 30.
(UPDATE: Make that Wednesday, July 31! NOT Tuesday!)
Anyone want to come along? Please PM me if you do.

MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

Via I-15 N 274.10 miles
4 hrs 14 mins ONE WAY

Depart time (Temecula) will be 7 AM. I will be at the Cajon Pass (gateway to the high desert)
by about 8:15 if you want to pick up the ride there!

Weather:
High: 99 F
Low: 82 F

(yes, I did post this in the "California Riders" group first.)

cheers,

Can you change the date to next week? I would love to go but I'm actually going to be out of town that weekend. Single day Vegas runs are usually a fun and relaxing trip for those accustomed to distance riding.

If I can make a suggestion since I've done a few of these already, definitely include a ride down the strip to see some sites and instead of In & Out make it the Vegas tradition of a stop at a buffet. Makes the trip all that much more enjoyable. Usually what the groups do is ride the 15 to the top of the strip exit and ride the strip south until you get to your desired buffet and head in.

Be aware there are three In-N-Out's near the Vegas strip. All are easily accessible from the I-15
The first one, from the Calif side, is off Tropicana
The one on the far side is across the street from a Sam's Club. Low cost fuel for members. I don't remember the name of the street.

I will be doing the same ride again toward the end/start of August/September on a Saturday
Stay tuned for that one if you can't make WEDNESDAY (I start work again on Thursday!)

Mr. Krabs, you are a wise man. It would be a delight to stop in at Bellagio for lunch at the Buffet! The Saturday version of this ride will include that. I offered IN N OUT just beause it's cheap. If the assembled riders are in the mood to spend $30 for Weekend Brunch, then let's do that.

NB: the best part of ANY ride is sitting and talking with the other riders. Following/Leading someone else just isn't as much fun as riding alone. It's a paradox. I want to share the fun with others, but you can't do that at 60-70 MPH!
To make that happen, it would be good to schedule stops for gas/water/restrooms at the 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 distances, and then make the same stops on the way back... all optional of course.

(I'm still planning to go on Wednesday NOT TUESDAY. Mrs. StratTuner just reminded me we have a live concert to go to Tuesday Night.... so it's now WEDNESDAY....31 July.)

Look for another one of these Vegas Saturday Lunch invites late August or early September.

Yes, the IN N OUT I had in mind is also a link to a map that shows exactly where it is. Near Excalibur and N.Y./N.Y. Casinos.

StratTuner,
If you are planning on doing the same ride, or a similar day trip around Temecula, San Diego Area - count me in. I live in Rancho Bernardo/SD, I want to do a couple longish rides this summer.

I will plan the same weekend trip as soon as the summer heat passes.
I'll announce well in advance so folks have time to plan.

I'd like to go up through Kelso (google that city!) instead of along the 15.
It won't make it a whole lot longer, but it's a more interesting ride than I-15 coming and going.

We are also doing a "Saddle Sore 1000" ride as a fund raiser for our church. (St. Thomas of Canterbury, Temecula).
All are welcome to sign up for that... no religious affiliation required!

I have an "In and Out" right down the street. They only sell liquor and tobacco, though. Not very good for a lunch break....

When is the SS1000?

"In N Out" is a burger place 'round these parts...

The SS1K will be labor day weekend. Saturday, I believe.
We get people to "pledge" a flat amount then do the ride.
It worked well last year...so we're doing it again.

Last year the ride was to "Sturgis", but that seems a little weird to sponsor a church fund raiser to a wild party like that one!

[HERE] is the map 2014 end of summer map.
Now all that needs to happen is for the temps to drop well below the current 105 F in Vegas and then pick a Saturday.

Jesus made a point of hanging out with the "sick". The well don't need him. Around here, we have lots of fund raisers and all the biker groups attend and rub shoulders for a good cause. It's a wonderful thing!

yep. somewhere Jesus says something like "i didn't come to save the good people...they don't need that."
(smile)

I think it was when he sitting around with all those BAD tax collectors in Matthew.
Nothings changed as far as tax collectors go (read that -IRS) . Oh, crap! now I'm in the system as a trouble maker. Well, they got that right!
